SPRINGFIELD – Providing asylum seekers, students and residents of her community with proper resources that will allow them affordable housing, equity in health care and education, and a fair chance at succeeding in life, remain top priorities for State Senator Celina Villanueva (D-Chicago).
Villanueva, who was sworn in to the Senate Wednesday, is excited to continue fighting for issues that affect members of her communities on the southwest side of Chicago.
“Receiving the honor of being the voice and leader for residents in the 12th District is something I hold with pride and honor,” Villanueva said. “People have put their trust in me to bring forth change on a legislative platform and it is my responsibility to not let them down.”
Villanueva was elected to the Illinois State Senate in 2020 and successfully won reelection in 2022. The 12th Legislative District encompasses communities on the southwest side of Chicago.
“The fight for equity in the state is not an easy task, but it is something I am diligently dedicated to,” Villanueva said. “I am glad that I work with legislators and government officials in Springfield that allow me to come up with viable solutions to combat these challenges on an economic and social level.”
Villanueva strives to keep constituents updated with helpful information and resources, and encourages people to reach out to his office at 773-565-4661 or www.senatorvillanueva.com/contact-us with questions and concerns.
